0.2.2

Latest

Fixed

  • Launcher could stop connecting to your server after the server updated itself, saying the server had changed. Update Launcher and it connects again.
  • If your server really has changed, for example because you rebuilt it, Launcher explains what happened and lets you trust it and carry on, instead of leaving you unable to connect.

0.2.1

Improved

  • Downloading a Flashbag update shows its progress in the update dialog, which then offers to apply it.

Fixed

  • When Flashbag can't start, for example because Flashbag Desktop is using its folder, Launcher shows the problem once in Flashbag's card and clears it when Flashbag runs.
  • When another program is using the port Flashbag needs, such as another Flashbag in a different Docker app, Launcher says so.
  • Launcher creates only one server at a time at your Cloud provider.
  • Links in Flashbag's release notes open in your browser.
  • In dark mode, menus stand out from the cards behind them.

0.2.0

New: Flashbag on your own server

  • Launcher can now set up Flashbag on a server instead of this computer, so Flashbag keeps running, and your Agents keep working, even when this computer is off. Choose On your own server when Launcher asks where Flashbag should run.
  • Let Launcher create the server for you at Hetzner or DigitalOcean, in your own account: connect it with an API token, choose a location and size, and see what the server costs a month before you create it. Your Cloud provider bills you for the server while it exists.
  • Or use a server you already have, running Ubuntu Server 24.04 or 26.04 LTS with root or sudo access, at least 2 GB of memory and 10 GB of free disk space. Launcher connects over SSH, checks the server, and sets Flashbag up there.
  • Open Flashbag on your server in your browser from Launcher, over a secure connection. It is a separate Flashbag with its own Agents and data, and needs its own activation. With Flashbag both here and on a server, the This computer and Cloud tabs switch between them.
  • Update, Revert, Repair, or change the release channel of Flashbag on your server, just like on this computer. Updates show what's new, and the previous version is kept so you can go back.
  • Removing Flashbag erases it from the server and shows what was deleted. If Launcher created the server, it also deletes it at your Cloud provider. When Launcher can't confirm that a server was deleted or never created, it keeps it in view as an unconfirmed server, with what it may cost and where to check, until you check again or tell Launcher to forget it.
  • Passwords and your Cloud provider token are kept only while Launcher is open, and Launcher asks for them again after a restart. Only the SSH key Launcher uses is saved.

New

  • Open Terminal now opens inside the Launcher window instead of your computer's terminal app, both here and for Flashbag on your server. From Advanced, you can also open a shell on the server itself, outside Flashbag.

Improved

  • When something fails, Launcher explains what went wrong in plain words right where you started, with the technical error one click away. A password or key the server refuses takes you straight to the field to fix it.
  • Technical details shows Launcher's recent log to help with troubleshooting, and the server's support report includes it.
  • Screens make better use of a wider window.

Fixed

  • Flashbag now runs in your computer's time zone instead of UTC, so daily chat resets, Task schedules and usage periods follow your local time. Existing installations switch after their next update or Repair.
  • On macOS and Linux, Launcher no longer runs your shell's startup configuration every few seconds while waiting for Docker.
  • On Linux, if a Launcher update can't be installed, Launcher reopens the version you had.
  • Launcher's saved settings are no longer at risk if your computer shuts down while it saves them.

0.1.4

Improved

  • Startup problems now offer a support report with recent logs and Docker diagnostics. You can also copy it from Technical details.
  • Launcher has a new look that matches Flashbag, including dark mode.
  • Flashbag's status, its update, and the Files, Terminal and Repair tools now share one screen. Release channels and technical details are on their own Advanced screen.
  • A newer Launcher is offered along the bottom of every screen, setup included.

Fixed

  • Fixed a Windows Docker Desktop issue that prevented Flashbag from starting and incorrectly reported that its data folder belonged to a different installation.
  • Stop and Repair remain available when container runtime settings need fixing, provided the container still uses the expected saved data. You can also download Flashbag while its container needs attention.
  • Windows setup can finish even if automatic startup or resuming setup after a restart cannot be configured. Launcher shows a warning explaining what to do manually.
  • Failures or timeouts while checking downloaded Docker images no longer prevent you from opening, starting, or stopping an otherwise working Flashbag installation.

0.1.3

Improved

  • First-time setup is simpler: download Flashbag, then Start and open Flashbag opens it in your browser. Launcher no longer offers a Flashbag update before anything is installed.
  • The Terminal button is now labeled Open Terminal, matching the sign-in instructions in Flashbag.
  • Container setup problems now point you to Technical details in Advanced, with clearer explanations of mismatched data folders and mounts to help with troubleshooting.

Fixed

  • On macOS and Linux, Launcher now detects Docker installed while Launcher is open without requiring a restart.
  • Docker permission and container setup errors no longer show a misleading waiting-for-Docker indicator.

0.1.2

Fixed

  • Disk usage in Technical details now loads correctly even when Docker has a large number of images or volumes.

0.1.1

Improved

  • Available Flashbag updates now refresh automatically when you open or return to Launcher, and periodically while it stays open.
  • Linux startup is more reliable, with setup instructions when a required system component is missing.

Fixed

  • Background checks no longer block other Launcher actions.

0.1.0

New: Meet Flashbag Launcher

  • Flashbag Launcher is a separate app you download and install to give your Agents their own space on your computer. They can install tools and work on files inside that space, helping keep their changes away from your everyday files and apps. Launcher is a good fit when you want to use Flashbag on your everyday computer.
  • Flashbag Desktop is designed for a dedicated Mac or Linux computer, where Agents can work directly across the device. Launcher keeps their work contained, so you can give Flashbag room to work without dedicating a whole computer to it.
  • Already using Flashbag Desktop? You can switch to Launcher on the same computer and keep your Agents, memory, conversations, and settings. Update Desktop first, let any running work finish, then quit it before starting Flashbag through Launcher. You'll need to sign in to your AI services again the first time.
  • Install Flashbag, start it, and open it in your browser from one small app. Flashbag runs in the background, so you can close Launcher and keep your Agents working. Your data stays on your computer.
  • Setup guides you through getting Docker ready, the software that runs Flashbag in its own space. On Windows, Launcher can install what's missing, continue after a restart, and optionally start Flashbag when you sign in to Windows.
  • Open your Flashbag folder directly from Launcher to find your files. The Terminal shortcut helps you follow Claude's sign-in instructions or get help with troubleshooting.

Updates at your pace

  • See your current Flashbag version, check for updates, and download one while you keep working. Apply it when you are ready to restart; your conversations, settings, installed agent tools, and sign-ins are kept.
  • Launcher can update itself too. Read what's new and install its update without stopping Flashbag or interrupting your Agents.
  • Downloads are checked to make sure they are genuine Flashbag releases and match your computer.

Help when you need it

  • Repair reinstalls your current Flashbag version if it will not start, downloading it again if needed. Your saved data and sign-ins are kept.
  • Having trouble after an update? Revert in Troubleshooting lets you try the previous Flashbag version again.
  • Older downloads are cleaned up automatically after a successful start to save disk space, while keeping the previous version available. Technical details shows how much space Flashbag's files and downloads use.

Easy to find your way

  • Everyday actions, updates, and troubleshooting each have their own place, with advanced details tucked away until you need them.
  • Launcher can use an existing Docker installation, including OrbStack on macOS, and explains when Docker needs starting or attention before Flashbag can run.
  • If downloaded Flashbag files have been removed outside Launcher, it guides you to download them again.
